opal creek
farm to school

The Opal Creek Farm to School program is made possible by a California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Farm to School grant. Through this program, Opal Creek Farm sells produce to schools in California, hosts field trips for schoolchildren and community members, and provides educational material about agriculture and the environment.

We serve schools with students who are participants in the free hot lunch program. All of us at Opal Creek Farm believe every person deserves access to nourishing, fresh food, and to learn about healthful foods and farming.

Selling Produce
To Schools

We started selling our produce to schools in 2023 – 👋 to Pacific Elementary School! Kindergarten through fifth grade students love our organic tomatoes, snap peas, peppers, and strawberries. (Okay, especially the strawberries, but they’re only available seasonally.) The dry-farmed sungold tomatoes are the perfect size for lunchboxes.

The high season of our production is from August through October. We can make weekly deliveries to your district, whether you are looking for high volumes or modest amounts of produce.

We would love to send some Opal Creek Farm produce to your local school. Get in touch, and we’ll get started.

field trips
to the farm

There’s no better way to learn about how your food was grown than to see it growing. That’s why we love having classes take a field trip to Opal Creek Farm, where students get a tour, a produce tasting, and a lesson on organic food production and farming, water-wise farming, plant life cycles, biodiversity, and soil health. Our field trip curricula support STEM learning and environmental eduction and can be tailored to suit the learning goals of Kindergarten through university level students.
